Obituary

Robert Lee Pittman, 94, of Wilson, died Saturday, August 24, 2019.

Funeral, Tuesday, 11:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service, with burial in Evergreen Memorial Park.  The family will be at the funeral home Monday, 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

Robert was a loving husband to Jane Wills Pittman; father to three, Gail Pender of Wilson, Wanda Moore (Gene) of Marshville and Rudy Lynn Pittman who died earlier.  His family included Jane’s children, Valerie Moody (Tim) of Wake Forest, Michele Reed of Rocky Mount and Jackie Hering (Ricky) of Fuquay Varina.  He leaves many precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; sister, Jean Wooten of Pikeville; brother, Charles Pittman (Iris) of Kenly, and a special friend to Robert and Jane, Kathy Sandifer.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Atlas and Mittie Allen Pittman of Kenly; step-grandson, Kenneth Dwayne Pender of Eureka.

He and Jane Wills Williams shared fifteen wonderful years (May 15, 2004) of marriage.  An avid golfer, he accomplished three holes in one and was faithful to his church, Grace Baptist, where he enjoyed singing in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a deacon.  He served a short time in the Navy near the end of World War II as an air traffic controller stationed in Norfolk, VA.  Growing up on a farm, he kept contact with farming retiring as a Federal Land Bank, Vice-President, in the credit division.
