We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Wilson Memorial Service
Andrew T. Wheeler, 65, of Wilson, passed away in his sleep Saturday, March 20, 2021.
The family will receive friends at Wilson Memorial Service, Tuesday, March 23, 5:30 - 7:30PM.
Andrew will be remembered as a fine man for he fondly touched the heart of nearly everyone he encountered.
Andrew spent 40+ years working for Ihrie Supply Company and had only just begun enjoying his retirement years, where he seemed to truly catch his second wind in life. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with Debbie, their friends and family, at their home while cooking on the grill, having a cocktail, or “driving the deck” as he would call it. If you didn’t find him at home, you usually didn’t have to look further than the Elks Lodge, Harris Teeter, or a lunch/dinner table at a family member’s house. If you knew Andrew, you knew life for him was about spending time with friends/family, eating a good meal, planning the next meal, or a combination thereof. Andrew loved spending time with Drew’s family, especially his two grandkids, and could never get through an entire visit without shedding a few tears as he loved them so.
There are not enough words to share the thoughts, memories or stories of how Andrew touched our lives. He will be remembered as many things in the celebration of his life, but most importantly he will always be remembered as a very fine man.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Webb Wheeler; son, Andrew T. “Drew” Wheeler Jr. (Heather) of Raleigh and grandchildren, Andrew T. “Trace” Wheeler III and Georgia Wheeler; brother, Duane Wheeler (Pamela) of Wilson; sisters, Wanda Wheeler of Carrboro, Terri Tkachuk (Julian) of Hickory and Nancy Black (Mike) of Denver; and numerous nieces/nephews & extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcome to CHEW (Children’s Hunger Elimination of Wilson) P.O. Box 728, Wilson, NC 27894-0728.
