Angie Hare

Angela “Angie” Bogue Hare, 74, of Wilson passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, May 16, 1:00 at First Baptist Church in Wilson followed by visitation. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont.

Angie was always fiercely independent, someone who always got the job done, and taught each of her children to be the same. She believed in the power of education and touched the lives of many students as a high school teacher. She was well known for her green thumb, won many ribbons at the county fair and enjoyed sharing her plants with others.

Above all, her children and family were always the most important thing. She retired the first time for 13 years to stay at home and raise her children before returning to teaching. Time spent with her was always her favorite gift. Angie would stop whatever she was doing to spend time with her children. This kind of love does not end and will be carried with each of them and live on through her children and grandchildren.

Angie was active at First Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as a youth chaperone, teaching Girls in Action, cooking Wednesday night suppers, helping with Vacation Bible School and holding babies in the nursery. She was instrumental in the formation of Missions on the Move, a ladies group that focuses on local mission activities and was co-leader for several years.

Angie enjoyed traveling all over the world and experiencing new things. Her super power was the ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved. She courageously faced the struggles of ALS and remained active as long as possible. She was firm in her faith to the end and would spend the last hour before bed reading the Bible and praying for others.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Donnie Hare of Wilson; daughter, Shelley Hare of Raleigh; sons, Joel Hare (Kristen) and Brian Hare (Olivia) of Raleigh; grandsons, Parker, Aaron, Thomas, Andrew, and Calvin Hare and Carter King; sisters, Wanda Mallette and husband, Colonel (Ret.) Rodney, of Charlotte and JoAnn Aldridge of Newport; brothers, Frank Bogue, Jr. of Fremont and Allen Bedford (Eucelan Estrella) of Bushnell, Florida; so many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, other family members, and so many caring friends.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents Frank Lee Bogue and Betty Jean Coley Bogue.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894. Side mark “Missions on the Move/Angie”.
