Anita Griffin

Anita Marshburn Griffin, 51, of Lucama, passed away peacefully at Wilson Medical Center, September 21, 2023 at 8:00pm.

The family will be at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 2833 Tilghman Rd, Wilson for a time of visiting Thursday, September 28 from 6 to 8pm.

Anita was born and raised in Durham, NC, where she graduated from Southern High School in 1990. She moved to Wilson in 1995 to be closer to family. In 2007, she began working at Walmart, where she spent the next 15 years. After leaving Walmart she began selling Paparazzi Jewelry and became very successful. In 2015, Anita began fostering and rescuing animals. That became her passion, she fostered and transported hundreds of animals over the years, until she no longer could.

Anita is survived by her husband of 13 years, Kenneth Griffin; her mother, Esther P. Taylor (Willie) of Beulaville; father, Gerald L. Marshburn of Richlands; sisters, Kimberly D. Byrd (Richard) of Wilson and Vicky L. McBroom of Reidsville; stepbrothers, Timmy Taylor (Elsie), Tony Taylor (Melissa), and Willie Taylor, Jr. (Donna); stepsister, Sheila Richardson (Rob) all of Beulaville; nieces, Debbie McBroom and Shelby Byrd; nephews, Michael and Cameron Byrd and D.W. Wilkins; great nieces Eliana and Layla Hoyle; great nephew, Camden Hoyle; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; countless friends that knew how special she was. She also leaves behind her fur babies, Ashes, ‘Mis Sam,’ ‘Mis Lucille,’ G.G., Tangerine and Midnight.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilson County Humane Society, so they can continue to help animals, the way Anita would have wanted, PO Box 7064, Wilson, NC 27895.
