Bennett Barnes

Bennett Barnes, 102, of Monroe, formerly of Lucama, peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Friday May 9, 2025, with his daughter by his side.

Mr. Barnes was born in Wilson County on March 29, 1923 to William Clarence Barnes and Mary Alma Best Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Flonnie Bass Barnes; great-grandson, Seth Cox; siblings, Hannah Bass, Vernice Barnes and James Barnes.

He is survived by his daughter Sharon Harn (Rick); grandchildren, Valarie Cox and Bryan Harn; great-grandchildren, Logan Benson (Dillyn), Sam Cox, Deacon Cox, Alex Harn (Brittany), and Camryn Layton (Andrew); great-great-grandchildren, Silas and Sadie Benson.

A special thanks is extended to VIA Hospice of Charlotte and Woodridge Assisted Living staff and caregivers in Monroe.

A private interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
