WILSON - Elizabeth "Betty" Schlegel Taylor, 89, died Saturday, May 10, 2014.
She was born in Carbon County, PA, studied nursing at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, PA, and was an Army nurse cadet near the end of World War II while serving in a military hospital in Memphis. She moved to Wilson to join Drs. George and Josephine Melchoir to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Betty, a member of St Therese Catholic Church, was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Taylor, Jr, in 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Young (Denny) of Morganton; son, William J. "Bill" Taylor, III (Tracy) of Oxford; grandchildren, Elizabeth "Betsy" Young and William J. Taylor, IV "Jordan" and brother, Arthur J. Schlegel, Jr. of New Mexico.
A note of special thanks is extended to her faithful friend and caregiver, Mae F. Hall.
She is to be buried in Luzerne County, PA.
