WILSON - Elizabeth "Betty Deane" Valentine Wood, 85, died Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Funeral, St Timothy's Episcopal Church, Monday, 11:00 AM.
Her family will be at home until the funeral hour with a time of visiting at the church after the inurnment.
From early on, her ambition was to teach others to read. It was a passion that she nurtured throughout life. She was chosen as a June Queen at St Catherine's School, Richmond, in addition to being recognized as All-State Tennis and Collegiate All-American Field Hockey player.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Moss Wood; daughter, Buffy Anderson (Steve) of Wilmington; son, Sam Moss Wood (Nicole) of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Taylor and Travis Wood, John and Parker Anderson; and brother, Stuart Valentine of Richmond, VA.
