STANTONSBURG - Carson Lee Shingleton, 87, of Stantonsburg, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012.
Funeral, Thursday, 7:00 PM, Mount Nelson Baptist Church, 206 W. Main St, Eureka, with visiting to follow. Interment, Friday, 10:00 AM, Stantonsburg Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Robert and Mary Shirley Shingleton; wives, Virginia Goff Shingleton and Doris Edmundson Shingleton and several brothers and sisters. He had served in Japan while in the Army and was a member of the American Legion in Snow Hill.
Surviving is his daughter, Carol Grant Hill of New Bern; grandson, Stan Hill (Sherry) and their daughters, Kristen, Katie and Kelly, all of Cary; step-daughter: Deborah Burke of Roxboro; step-grandsons, R.K. and Charles Burke (Kaylan) of Roxboro; step-great-granddaughter, Charleigh Burke; several close church friends and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mount Nelson Baptist Church, PO Box 3239, Eureka, NC 27830.
