Charles Lee Simpson, 56, of Wilson, passed away on July 20, 2019.

Funeral, Thursday, 6:00 PM, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, followed by visitation.  Interment, Friday, 10:00 AM, Evergreen Memorial Park.

He was the son of his late father, Luther Willis “Bill” Simpson and Christine Lewis Simpson.

Charles was a graduate of James B. Hunt High School and went on to attend North Carolina Wesleyan College, where he excelled on the baseball field. Charles was named All-American in 1985 and to this day, his record of 47 home runs has not been matched.

To know Charles, was to love Charles. He lived life to the fullest and was always sure to keep a smile on everyone's face. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and looked forward to hanging out and having fun with each of us.

Charles was a loving, son, brother, father, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Christine Lewis Simpson; sister, Kathy Ann Simpson; his son, Charles Christopher Simpson; and daughter, Ashley Caroline Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
