Curtis Wyatt Beddingfield, 80, of Wilson, died Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Funeral, Sunday, 3:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
Curtis was born in Nash County in North Carolina on December 19, 1944 and graduated from Spring Hope High School. He attended Wilson Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in Transportation Maintenance. After graduation, he worked at Alford Esso Station in Wilson. Then he began his 30-year career at Wilson County School Bus Garage where he had numerous roles including mechanic, route supervisor, and eventually Director of Transportation. He served as the State Vice President of the School Bus Association of North Carolina in 1984 and the President for the same association in 1985.
Curtis was a devoted member at Connect Church, where he has served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Class President, Scout Leader, and Deacon, as well as in roles on the Bus Committee, Board of Trustees, Building Committee, and Future Planning Committee. He was also an avid Ford enthusiast, loved NASCAR, and enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where he served on Oakmont Resort’s Board of Directors for numerous years. In his free time, he loved working on old cars, taking meticulous care of his yard, collecting clocks, and spending time with those he loved and cared deeply about, including his family, church family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jenny Collie Beddingfield; son, Travis Wyatt Beddingfield (Becky) of Wilson; grandchildren, Eddie Mildon of Leland, Pamela Mildon (Chase Edwards), Anna Grace Beddingfield (Alex Averette), and Gabby Beddingfield of Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Reagan Campbell Mildon, Luna Ivy Edwards, and Braxton Lee Averette.
He was preceded in death by parents, Needham Wyatt and Valeria Green Beddingfield; daughter Bonita Beddingfield Mildon in 2021; sister, Patricia Beddingfield Gupton.
