Derek J. Stanley, 23, of Pikeville, NC, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2025.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, June 21, 2:00 at Beulah Baptist Church, 3140 NC 242, Benson.
Born on November 15, 2001, in Wilson, NC, Derek brought light and laughter to every room he entered. Known for his contagious smile and generous heart, he never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Derek worked as a foreman at ECS where his work ethic and leadership earned him the respect and admiration of his coworkers. Outside of work, Derek found joy in the mountains, photography, gaming on his Xbox, and spending time with animals — especially his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Lori T. Stott and Jim Stott of Pikeville; his sisters Krissy (Jason Ennis), Ashley Howard, Tori Vitt, Heather and Mary Stott; his cherished nephew, Benton — who believed his Uncle D hung the moon — and his niece, Charleigh; he is also survived by his extended family: Wesley, Christy, Ty, Caylynn, and Wyatt, all of whom held a special place in Derek’s heart as well as a special Aunt Tammy Lynn. Derek will also be deeply missed by his longtime girlfriend, Mikayla Honeycutt, who was a constant source of love and support in his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Verlon and Marjorie Jo Bogue Taylor.
Derek’s warmth, humor, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Derek’s memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), www.nami.org
