Don Bass

Donald Ray Bass, affectionately known as Don by friends and family, 80, of Wilson, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…” -2 Timothy 4:7-8

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, July 14, 11:00 AM, at Wilson Memorial Service. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park with Military Honors.

Don was a 1964 graduate of Greene Central High School in Greene County. Following graduation, he proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and dedicated many years of service to Bridgestone/Firestone before retiring.

He was an active member of the Wilson Evening Lions Club for 13 years and a proud member of American Legion Post 153 in Elm City. Don was also a proud and faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Wilson, North Carolina.

He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and church family, whether gathered together at home or making memories while fishing and camping in his RV. He had a deep love for animals, especially his faithful dog and constant companion, Buster, who brought him years of friendship and happiness.

Don will be remembered for his service, his kindness, his love of the outdoors, and the devotion he showed to those he loved.

He is survived by his wife Trudy Bridgers Bass; daughter, Tracey Bass Sinclair (Tim) of Beulaville; son, Daniel Bass (Dana) of Wilson; daughter, Carolee Coley (Jeff) of Wilson; son, Jon Mullins (Adrienne) of Wilson; grandchildren, Toni Sinclair Lamb (Cameron), Joshua Sinclair, Megan Sinclair Hill (Tim), Kayla Allen, Brooke Allen, Aurilyn Allen and Anthony Chasse; great grandchildren, Devyn Lamb, Bryson Hill, Emersyn Hill and Everly Hill; brother, Robert Bass (Charlotte) of Cornelius.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar Bass and Geneva Johnson Bass; son, Anthony Glenn Easom Bass and brother, James Melvin Bass.
