Dorothy Calamito

Dorothy Ann Mastrangelo Calamito, lovingly known as “Mom”, Dottie, Ms. Dorothy, Aunt Dot and Nanny Dot passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, in Greenville, NC, just four days shy of her 83rd birthday.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on June 29, 1942, and raised in Union City, Dottie spent her life embodying love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was a dedicated employee of Inserra Shop-Rite in Lyndhurst for over 20 years, where she was admired for her warm spirit, work ethic, and genuine care and concern for others.

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Vito “Tony” Calamito, her parents Louis and Rosanna Ricco Mastrangelo, her sister Eileen Mastrangelo Fazio and brother in law Robert "Bob" Mosera.

She leaves behind a family who adores her deeply: her sister Josephine Mastrangelo Mosera; daughters Toni Marie Calamito Barnes (Randy) and Debra “Debbie” Calamito; generations of precious nieces and nephews; grandchildren Hannah Crider, Laura Barnes, and Rachel Loor (Robinson); and great-grandchildren Madysen Barnes, Jayce Barnes, and Samuel Crider.

Her nurturing and generous heart, quick wit, and deep faith touched everyone who knew her. Whether offering advice from her kitchen table or delighting in the joy of her great-grandchildren, Dottie’s love was a guiding light to her family.

A visitation to honor Dottie’s life will be held on Thursday, July 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Service, 211 Fieldstream Dr. N., Wilson, NC 27896.
