LOS ANGELES, CA – John Dwight Costabile III, a native of Wilson, NC, died in Los Angeles – his home for more than 30 years - after a two- year battle with lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Richard Styche, and his parents, John and Ruth Costabile.
He is survived by a sister, Pam Stamper, and her husband Dave, both of Cary, two nieces, one nephew, several great-nephews and great-nieces, and many friends.
Known for his engaging personality and steadfast friendship, Dwight was a talented performer, singing and dancing in local productions. After graduating from Fike High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and later studied filmmaking at LACC.
Friends will host a gathering to celebrate his life from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 12, at Wilson Memorial Service and invite his friends and family to bring and share their memories at that time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LGBT Center of Raleigh https://www.lgbtcenterofraleigh.com/ or the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committe, http://www.dscc.org/
