Eleanor Holland Parris, 94, of Wilson, departed this life into eternal rest on August 2, 2026 after a period of declining health.
Funeral, Monday, August 10, at 6:00 PM at Wilson Memorial Service followed by visitation.
Born on February 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James I. Holland ("Jim") and Inez Speight Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Carlton Parris; sister, Lois Holland Sauls and brother-in-law, David Sauls; brother, Kenneth Holland and sister-in-law, Faye Holland.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Parris Weaver and husband Danny; sons, Randy Parris and Jim Parris; grandchildren, Adam Weaver (Brittany), Ashley Weaver Bass (Jordan), Heather Parris Ward (Stephen), and Cody Parris (Mary), and nine great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Holland (Judi) of Raleigh and Ronald Holland (Jean) of Wilson and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mrs. Parris graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in 1950 as one of "Charlie's Angels." Her first job after graduation was as a teletypist and secretary with The Wilson Daily Times. She was later employed as an insurance agent for 24 years. She was a member of the Wilson Association of Insurance Women, "Insurance Woman of the Year" in 1970, and President of the association in 1971. She was later employed as a secretary and legal assistant with a local law firm until retiring.
She was a kind, considerate, caring person and a friend to all with a keen sense of humor. She was devoted to her family and friends including her second family at Grace Baptist Church where she was a member.
Mrs. Parris enjoyed gardening, writing poems, target shooting, and fishing. Later in life she enjoyed traveling in her motor home.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
