Funeral, Wednesday, 7:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Burial, Thursday, 11:00 AM, Evergreen Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Mary Coley Overby, and brother, James Overby.
George was a valued member of the American Legion, VFW and the Wilson Moose Family Center.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mamie Ruth Howard Overby; children, Kim Brown (Sue Ann), Renee Jones (Gerald), Kevin Brown (Cathy), Troy Overby (Bonnie), Blaine Overby (Tracy); grandchildren, Logan, Chase, Craig, Jessica, Josh, Cody, Miranda, Joseph, Leah, Hannah and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Alaira and Skylar; his sister, Joyce Garner of Wilson; his cat, Speckles; and several nieces and nephews.
