George Webb

George William “Spider” Webb, 99, of the New Hope community, died Monday, April 22, 2024.

Funeral, Thursday, 11:00 AM, Wilson Memorial Service, with a time of visiting and sharing beginning an hour before the service.  Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City, beside his wife, Evelyn Braswell Webb, who died in May 2019.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Luther Webb and Josephine Williams Webb of Wilson County; sisters, Roxie Harrell, Bert Williams, and Doris Nell Webb; brothers, Floyd Webb, Lloyd Webb, Braxton Webb, and Marvin Webb.

A farmer and auto mechanic in the Town Creek community was his work as was his faithful support of the New York Yankees baseball team.  He served in the Army during World War II.                     

Surviving is his daughter Christie Deno (Gordon) of Elm City; son, George W. “Billy” Webb, Jr. (Ann) with whom he lived for the past five years; grandchildren, Brax Webb (Cassie) of Enfield, Greg Webb (Angie) of Elm City, Wendy White (Matt Creech) of Sims, and Junior White (Jennifer) of Bailey; great-grandchildren, Katy Webb and Nicholas Webb.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Aenon Baptist Church, 7503 Town Creek Rd, Elm City, NC 27822.
