Harold Bass

Harold Alton Bass, 90, of Wilson, died Saturday, June 7, 2025.

A graveside service with military honors will be on Thursday, 10:00 AM, at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Bass was retired from the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam and Korean wars and was also retired from the News and Observer.

He is survived by his sons, Stanley Bass (Debbie) of Rocky Mount, Gregory Bass of Greenville, and Robert Bass of Cocoa Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Smith of FL; sister-in-law, Rosemond Proctor Bass of Elm City.

Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his wife Linda Norris Bass; son, Harold A. “Dicky” Bass, Jr.; grandson, Harold “Boo” Bass III; sister, Ruby Wester; brother, Tommie Bass.

In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made to American Legion, Post 13, PO Box 3065, Wilson, NC 27895.
