Hayden Bullard

Margaret Hayden Bullard passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026 in a loving, caring environment.

ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE POSTED WHEN AVAILABLE

Hayden was born in Chapel Hill, NC and was raised in Wilson, NC. She is a 1975 graduate of Ralph L. Fike High School. She attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1979. Her keen abilities of observance and insight of people naturally led her to obtain a degree in psychology. In 1976 she was presented at the North Carolina Debutante Ball by the NC Terpsichorean Club and always considered herself a “Bicentennial Deb.” After graduation she worked in Raleigh, NC, Washington DC and Charlotte, NC which is where she made her home for nearly 31 years. She was employed by Wells Fargo Bank and moved back to Wilson in 2020. She worked primarily in the legal and real estate professions. Hayden was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilson and Myers Park Methodist Church in Charlotte where she was a member of the handbell choir. Hayden loved all things Christmas, teapots, cats, cross stitching and her beloved UNC Tarheels. She enjoyed traveling, the beach, tap dancing and spending time with friends and family. Her storytelling was unsurpassed with her sense of humor and could quickly draw laughs from anyone and everyone. Hayden is remembered for her bright personality, optimism and quick wit. She truly cherished her friendships with those from near and far and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Hoke V. Bullard and Mary Jane S. Bullard. She is survived by two brothers, Dr. Graham W. Bullard and Hoke V. Bullard III, and a sister, Mary Jane B. Ellis, and seven nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the tireless, dedicated caregivers: Tina Webb, Donna Lucas, Wanda Webb and Mahogney Dawson of Minnie’s Care Services, 3HC of Wilson and Cathy Winborne, all of whose loving care has been unparalleled and upon whom the family depended and is eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1423, Wilson, NC 27894.
