Janet Colleen Voyce Betts Rand passed away in Broomall, PA on October 13, 2025. She was born in Flint, Michigan on October 14,1936 to June Adrian Voyce and James Voyce.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband William Ripley Rand [Bill], and her sister Joyce Voyce Murrell.
She is survived by her son, Michael C. Betts (Diana); daughter, Jennifer A. Fisher (Scott); grandsons, Wilson Alexander Fisher and Henry Gray Betts. She is also survived by her husband’s daughters, Margaret R. Corbett (Fred), Katherine R. Schamay (Don), and Anna R. Bond (Bob) and granddaughters, Ann S. Landis (Michael), Katherine S. Moser (Alex), Julia Schamay, and Sarah Byrnes (Ryan).
Janet graduated with a BS from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1958, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and Phi Beta Kappa Society. In 1984, she received an MBA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Janet was previously employed in the administration of Wilson Community College in Wilson, NC for 12 years as well as by Black and Decker.
She volunteered for nine years as a docent at the North Carolina Museum of Art and was a dedicated member of The Book Club and The Roundtable in Wilson.
Janet was a student of history and art and took great pleasure doing research for her many book club programs. She and Bill loved to travel and began their life together after being married in Florence, Italy. She avidly followed domestic and world affairs and enjoyed watching both professional and college sports while her cat Baxter snuggled on her lap. She will be dearly missed.
The interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31st, 2025, in the Memorial Garden of First Presbyterian Church, 414 Sunset Rd NW, Wilson, NC. A reception will follow from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. in the church’s education building.
