Jim Sorrell

James Dudley “Jim” Sorrell, 94, of Wilson, died Sunday, April 5, 2026.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, April 8, 11:00 AM, at Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Sorrell and his late wife, Dorothy Barnes Sorrell, owned and operated Wilson Lawn and Garden Equipment for 22 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Pat Wilhite (Dave) of Martinsville, VA and Phyllis Ballance (Richie) of Lucama; son, Hugh Sorrell of Washington; grandchildren, James Wilhite (Manuela), Stuart Sorrell (Cara), Justin Ballance (Melissa) and Casey Ballance; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Vickie Wade Sorrell of LaGrange and Ruth Cockrell of Wilson.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Sorrell was preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Liney Franks Sorrell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Sorrell and wife, Hazel, and Vernon Sorrell, and wife, Shirley.
