WILSON - Asa James "Jimmy" Gunter, 82, died Saturday, December 15, 2012.
Funeral, Monday, 3:00 PM, First Presbyterian Church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
Jimmy, a native of Lee County, died at home surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Tatum Grunter; parents, Arthur M. and Mary Ethel Stout Gunter; sister, Frances G. Wicker and brother, Arthur S. Gunter.
He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and grandfather who always assured his family came first. He was a devoted Tar Heel fan. Being such a friendly, caring person, he excelled in pharmaceutical sales. His life was a shining example of how we all should treat other people.
Surviving is his wife, Delores Puckett Gunter; daughters, Karen Carrouth (Henry) of Graham and Kathy Culley (Scott) of Midlothian, VA; son, Jay Gunter (Kelly) of Wilson; grandchildren, Andrew Carrouth, Adam Carrouth, Emily Carrouth, Katherine Culley, Matthew Culley, A.J. Gunter, III and Eli Gunter; step-daughter, Priscilla Hamilton Watkins (Mike) of Smithfield; step-son, Larry Hamilton, Jr. (Cindy) of Elm City; step-grandchildren, Lauryn Watkins, Morgan Watkins and Clay Hamilton; sisters, Katherine Brannon of Greenville and Mary Ethel Jones of Wilmington; brother-in-law, Paul Wicker of Chapel Hill.
