Jimmy Wise

Jimmy Allen Wise, 83, of Eureka, died Monday, September 29, 2025.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2:00 PM, Mount Nelson Baptist Church. The family will be in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 12:30 pm. Burial will be in the Eureka Cemetery with firemen rites by the Eureka/North East and Contentnea Fire Departments.

Jimmy had worked at Murphy Body Works in Wilson, then operated the community grocery store in Eureka and before retirement was at T.L. Herring Company, Wilson. He was the organizing Fire Chief of the Contentnea Fire Department, southwest of Wilson. The Ruritan Service Award went to Faye and Jimmy twice for their work on a Community Christmas Parade for Eureka.

Surviving is his wife, Linda Faye Lancaster Wise; daughters, Nancy Howell (Jeff) of White Lake and Tracey Ellis of Raleigh; grandchildren, Scott, Arienne and Nathan Howell, Lauren and Sydney Ellis; sisters, Shirley Moore of Grifton, Jean McCoy and Patricia Cox of Dudley, Mary Margaret Holley (Roger) of Niceville, FL; brother, Fred Wise (Violet) of Dudley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Belle Thompson Wise of Wayne County; brothers, Billy Ray Wise, Danny Wise, and Jackie Wise.
