John Lee Evans

John Lee Evans Sr., 80, of Wilson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 10, 2023, with his family bedside who loved him dearly.

A service with Masonic Rites will be held on Monday April 17, 7:00, at Wilson Memorial Service followed by visitation.

John was a member of the Sudan Temple, Wilson County Shrine Club, and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #117 and #527.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved teaching his grandkids all his tricks about hunting and fishing. He also was an avid gardener who enjoyed sharing all his crops he grew.

John retired from Evans Metal Fabrication with 34 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Ann Woodard Evans of the home; brothers, Donald (Brenda) and Bobby (Doris) of Wilson; children, Johnny (Lisa) and Beth (Mike) of Lucama, Richard (Shannon) and Randy (Paula) of Wilson; grandchildren, Amber (Kenny) of Kenly, Brittany of Lucama, Matthew (Jamie) of Wilson, Kimberly of Lucama, Nolan of Wilson, Kensley and Parker of Wilson, Taylor (Dylan) of Pikeville and Chase of Black Creek; great-grandchildren, Andersyn and Rylan of Pikeville; special friend, Sophia of Lucama.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Evans; brothers, Billy and Tony Evans; grandchild, Dillon Evans.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sudan Shriners, PO Box 12829, New Bern, NC 28561.
