Joseph Parker

Joseph L. “Joe” Parker, 70, of Wilson, made an easy and swift transition to the heavenly realms, as his brother held vigil on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Through his love of music and art, Joe was an inspiration to his family and friends as he navigated his life journey, overcoming childhood health challenges. He always demonstrated independence, resilience and courage in the midst of personal physical challenges, and a spirit of using his talents to overcome obstacles. Joe had a motto by which he lived: The 3 A’s: Acknowledge, Accept, Adapt. Acknowledge the problem, accept that which you cannot change, and adapt by always moving forward to what’s next.

He graduated from Fike High School and continued his education at Western Carolina University’s School of Art and Design in Cullowhee. In young adulthood, he was the drummer in a band that traveled along the east coast. Joe had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned snack shops at NC State University and a restaurant at the Legislative Building in Raleigh. He owned and managed Parker’s Vending Services until his diagnosis of leukemia and pancreatic cancer in December 2025.

Joe is survived by his brother, Graham Parker (Jackie); niece, Nicole Parker Dixon (Mike Moston); nephew, Michael “Gray” Parker (Sara); great-nephews, Parker Dixon, Nicholas Moston, and Grayson Parker. He also leaves behind his beloved pets and furry companions, Reba and Rusty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Peggy Worrell Parker.

The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
