WILSON - Joyce Wood Byrd, 66, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007. She was a teacher at Fike High School with over 30 years of service in the teaching profession. To assure a quality future for teachers, she served on the state Teaching Fellowship Council to set plans for those who would follow her. She was a sponsor of the Keywanettes at Fike for over 20 years. Joyce was a graduate of Wake Forest University and enjoyed her civic and fraternal interests even as late as last week-end's Relay for Life. She participated at many levels in the work of the American Cancer Society. At state level was her interest in the United Daughters of the Confederacy
