James Kenneth Washam (Kenny), 66, of Fremont, passed away on January 26, 2026.
Born in Kentucky, Kenny spent most of his life in North Carolina, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the outdoors. A true outdoorsman, he loved coon hunting and was an active member of both the Toisnot Swamp and Neuse River Coon Hunting Association. Kenny loved being outside, always working on projects. He was a collector of all things—there wasn’t much he didn’t have on hand to build, fix, or create something new.
More than anything, Kenny loved his family. You could always find him on the sidelines at ballgames, proudly cheering on his grandkids. He loved taking them hunting, helping them with projects, and supporting whatever ideas they came up with - Papa was always on board. He enjoyed sitting around sharing stories and never missed a chance to laugh and make others laugh with him.
A devoted husband, Kenny loved his wife, Lynnette, with all he had. Their love for one another was beautiful and unwavering. He was her hero.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Betty Washam as well as many others aunts and uncles he loved dearly.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Lynnette; brothers, Terry Washam (Heidi), Donnie Washam (Barry), and Cliff Washam (Melissa); in-laws, Carol and Jimmy Teachey; five daughters, Amanda Allison (Chuck) , Jessica Washam, Tracy Pittman (Anthony), Tia Wilson (Mark), and Trina Gant (Casey); grandchildren Julia Beth Allison, Allyssa Allison, Bo Pipkin, Weston Pittman, Walker Pittman, Waylon Pittman, Hadley Gant, Barrett Wilson, Cooper Wilson , Avery Wilson, and many others that lovingly called him Papa.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. We invite you to leave your memories of Kenny in the comments, as he was loved by so many. The family sincerely appreciates all the prayers and support received during this time.
