Linda Smith Simpson, 82, of Wilson, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Funeral, Monday, 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The visitation will be in the church fellowship hall Monday, 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a retired teacher having taught in Wilson, Nash, and Vance Counties.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years Gerald Thomas “Tom” Simpson; daughter, Rebecca Tew (Jack) of Bailey; granddaughter, Madison Ireland (T.J.); grandson, Daniel Tew; great-grandchildren, Hensley, Preston, and Everleigh Grace; sister, Carolyn Ratley (D.C.) of Cherry Grove, SC.
Linda was preceded in death by her son Gerald Thomas “Gerry” Simpson, Jr. and her parents, Graham Wesley Smith and Donnie Lou Anders Smith; sisters, Norma Jean Medlin and Dorothy Grimsley; brother, Graham Wesley Smith, Jr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Spring Arbor for the loving care Linda received during her time as a resident. Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and professionalism, especially Jackie Gardner, RN, Lauren Walker, RN, Kayla Curatolo, RN, Amy Stokes, HHA and Laura Harris MSW. We are also deeply grateful for her devoted and loving caregivers Denise Harris, Tomika Moore, Michelle Lancaster and Joyce Summers.
