Mary Louise Whitley Broome, born June 14, 1933, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 4, 2020, at home in Wilson. She was surrounded by family, friends, and deep love.
Her memorial service will be at Evansdale United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
Louise was an active member of Evansdale Methodist, playing the piano for the church for many years. She worked at Bradley’s Tax Service during “tax season” and Bob Clark’s Warehouse during “tobacco season”, only retiring 5 years ago.
She is survived by her sons, Ted Broome and wife, Sandy, of Richmond, VA, Tab Broome and wife, Beth, of Laurinburg, and Tim Broome and wife, Jan, of Elizabethton, TN; grandchildren, Joshua, Hunter, Brooks and husband, Aaron Martin, Andi, and Drew; great-grandson Jasper; sisters, Eleanor Bray and Dorothy Boyette and husband, Johnny, and many nieces and nephews. She was blessed with the loving care and friendship of Cindy Roberts, who was her angel on earth.
Louise loved her family, her friends, and her church. She was a talented pianist and an exceptional cook and used both of these skills to show her love for others. Many will remember gathering around her piano as well as her famous family table ladened with vegetables from the family garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband E. Glenn Broome, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Evansdale United Methodist Church, 4334 Evansdale Rd., Wilson, NC 27893.
