Marie Edmundson

Marie Bridgers Edmundson, 82, of Stantonsburg, North Carolina, entered her heavenly home on June 13, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

To know Marie was not just to love her, but to be loved as well. She loved deeply, gave generously, and spent a lifetime making sure the people around her knew they were cared for. She had a way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and important. Whether you were family, a friend, a neighbor, or someone she had just met, you could count on being greeted with a smile, genuine kindness, and usually a good laugh.

She shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, William Edmundson. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and togetherness. Through the years, they created a home filled with love, laughter, encouragement, and countless memories. Their love was steady and enduring, and the example they set inspire and bless the generations that follow.

Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Edmundson; her son, William Edmundson II and wife Linda of Goldsboro; and her daughter, Joiann Massey and husband Jeffrey of Wilson. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Jacquelyn Harrell and husband Ray, Taylor Whittington and husband Will, Hunter Massey and wife Hannah, and Stone Massey, as well as two precious great-grandchildren, Hayley Harrell and Ryan Harrell, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Pittman and brother, Thomas Bridgers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph John William Bridgers and Annie Doris Bailey Bridgers Skinner, and her brother, William “Billy” Bridgers.

A woman of unwavering faith, Marie lived out her beliefs not only in words, but in the way she loved and served others. She spent much of her life giving of herself and caring for those around her. Her kindness, compassion, and servant's heart touched countless lives and left an impact far greater than she ever realized.

Even during her illness, her faith never wavered. Surrounded by the love she had spent a lifetime pouring into others, she faced each day with grace, courage, and the assurance that "God's got this." In her final days, she continued doing what she had always done - making sure everyone else was taken care of.

Above all else, Marie loved the Lord and loved her family with everything she had. Her legacy is not found in accomplishments or accolades, but in the values she lived every day and the generations she poured herself into. Her faith, kindness, joy, and unconditional love will continue through all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the promise of eternity and find peace in knowing that this is not goodbye, but simply a "see you later."
