FREMONT - Mary Jo Griffin Hooks, 77, died Sunday, May 3, 2009. She was a native of Dortches in Nash County and a 1954 graduate of Meredith College. Upon marriage to the late C. Taylor Hooks, Jr, she moved to Fremont and enjoyed a full life of service to her family, church, and community. She served the United Methodist Church at local and district level, on the Fremont Town Board, employed by the Postal Service and enjoyed the Centennial Gospel Band. Funeral, Wednesday, 2 PM, Fremont United Methodist Church, followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Surviving is her daughter, Kim H. Craig of Pikeville; son, Charles T. Hooks, III
