We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Wilson Memorial Service
The world lost a beloved mother and fine woman, Mary Hines Little, on August 18th.
Mary battled Alzheimer's disease, but it never stopped her from having a smile on her face or giving out the best hugs. Throughout her life, she loved engaging in conversation with anyone she met (friends and strangers alike) and never shied away from a friendly or competitive game of cards with family or friends.
She was born to the late Joshua and Penny Hines, July 30, 1932, in Fountain, North Carolina. She claims to have learned everything she knew from her beloved mother and took great comfort in knowing that she would be reunited with her after death. Mary graduated from Saratoga High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, her late husband Chester the same year. They were married one month shy of their 65th anniversary at the time of his passing in 2011.
She is survived by her three children Katrina and Richard of Wilson and Paul (Beth) of Wendell; by her grandchildren Caitlin (Walt) and Kess along with her great-grandchildren Briella and Noal and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara and Thyra, and her special long-time friends, Juanita, Peggy, Betsy, and Michelle.
Mary's legacy and love live on in her family and friends. While she is sorely missed we all take great solace in knowing she's at peace and feel so blessed to have had her in our lives.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 4th at 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Wilson. A celebration service will follow in the sanctuary at 12:00 p.m. Mary was a long-time faithful member at New Hope Church and was active in the WMU (Women's Mission Union) and often spoke of her and Chester's mission trip to Swaziland, Africa with great fondness.
The family encourages donations to be made to Vidant Inpatient Hospice House in lieu of sending flowers. They provided wonderful care to both Mary and us during her time there and we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff.
Please send donations to Vidant Inpatient Hospice House; 920 Wellness Drive; Greenville, NC 27834. Please note all donations are in memory of Mary Little.
