Max Liles

Max Edward Liles, 88, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Funeral, Saturday, 11:00 AM, First Baptist Church.

Max was a member of American Legion, Wilson Civitan Club, Wilson Evening Lions Club and Wilson TPA. He built a radio transmitter for the School for the Blind in Raleigh, carried the Olympic torch in 1996, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the NC Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and received a certificate of appreciation from the State of NC for Volunteer Services.

Surviving is his wife, Susan Garner Liles; daughters, Laura Best of Kenly and Kristin Studioso (Patrick) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jacob Best (Kimmy), Josh Best (Morgan), Sydney Studioso and Nickolas Studioso; great-grandchildren, Hudson Best, Lillian Best and Delaney Best; brothers, Sam Liles (Sue) of Sims and Tom Liles (Linda) of State Road; sister-in-law, Anne Liles of Rock Ridge; brother-in-law, L.A. Boyette of Kenly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna O’Neal Liles; son-in-law, Jeff Best; sisters, Helen Page and Carolyn Boyette; brother, James “Pedro” Liles.
