Nancy Coble Marlowe was born on May 14, 1930 in Laurinburg, NC to the late John Hanner Coble and Alma Presnell Coble. She died on January 4, 2024 at her home in Wilson, NC surrounded by her family.

Nancy had many happy memories growing up in Laurinburg. She attended Peace College, then transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill, where women were only allowed to attend as juniors. She loved her time in Chapel Hill and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. It was at UNC that Nancy met the love of her life, Bill Marlowe of Walstonburg, NC.

After graduating with a BA in Education, she moved back to Laurinburg. She taught 5th grade for two years, while Bill was serving in the Air Force. In 1954, Nancy and Bill were married and soon after moved to Wilson, NC. They had three children - Anderson, Stewart, and Elizabeth.

Nancy was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wilson. She was a proud life long Presbyterian, as her grandfather and great grandfather were ordained Presbyterian ministers.

Nancy volunteered for many civic and church related organizations. She enjoyed giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate. Nancy enjoyed tennis and skiing, as well as gardening and bridge. She loved working in her yard, where you could always find her digging in the dirt. She was a competitive bridge player and was very excited when she received her Life Master.

After the death of her daughter in 1981, she became a travel agent planning trips all over the world. It was at The Travel Agency she expanded her love of travel. She enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people. Nancy never met a stranger.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Marlowe, and brothers, John Coble and Joe Coble.

She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Anderson Marlowe, Jr.; sons, William “Anderson” Marlowe III (“E” Brakebill) and Daniel “Stewart” Marlowe (Jill Shallcross), and her grandchildren Elizabeth “Scottie” Marlowe Littlewood (Drew), William “Bill” Anderson Marlowe IV, “Eliza” Stewart Marlowe, Matilda “Mattie” Mills Marlowe, Christian “Cross” Shallcross Marlowe, and great grandson, “Henry” Allen Littlewood and great granddaughter “Anderson” Frances Littlewood.
