Pam Orcutt

Pamela (Pam) Smith Edmonds Orcutt passed away at home on February 18, 2026.

She was the eldest daughter of the late Buzz and Walton Smith of Wilson. Pam was also preceded in death by her late husbands, Campbell S. Edmonds and David S. Orcutt.

Pam graduated from Ralph L. Fike High School and Salem College, Winston Salem, NC. She worked at NationsBank and later started a retail maternity store with her late husband, Campbell. Pam also served 28 years as a trustee with the Slemp Foundation of Big Stone Gap, VA. She was an accomplished watercolorist and was very involved in the arts community.

Pam was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilson, where she volunteered her talent of floral arranging. She was especially good at gardening, playing bridge, decorating, and playing golf. Pam loved entertaining family and friends but also loved curling up with a good book from her book club. Pam’s favorite place was her sound side beach house in Pine Knoll Shores, Atlantic Beach. She spent countless hours catching crabs, cooking and picking them to make her famous crab cakes for family and friends. Pam will be remembered for her sunny outlook on life and her wit and kindness to her many friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Pam is survived by her daughter, Mary Anna Edmonds, and granddaughter Ryan-Ashley of Raleigh; her sister, Janet Darnell (Steve) of Raleigh; her brother, Wright Smith (Gail) of Wilmington; her sister-in-law, Nancey Belle Smith; and her many extended family members.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Pam’s devoted and loving caregivers, who made it possible for her to remain in her home during her extended illness: Janet Brown, Tamika Harris, Kieana Johnson, Jeanette Faison, Consandra Batts, and Roxanne Newton.

Per Pam’s request, a graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery on February 28, 2026, at 11:00 am.  A visitation will be held at Pam’s house, 1108 Azalea Lane, on February 27, 2026, from 6:30-8:00 pm.

Anyone wishing to honor Pam with a memorial gift, please consider the SPCA of Wilson, 2506 Tucker Ct., Wilson, NC 27893. All of Pam’s dogs were rescue animals, whom she loved dearly.
