Patricia Montgomery

Patricia Alsup Montgomery, 81, of Wilson, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 12, 2022.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Fellowship Church, 1114 S. First Street, Nashville followed by entombment at Evergreen Memorial Park.  Family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00-2:15 PM.

Born and reared in Nashville, Pat studied at Meredith College and graduated from Barton College with BS Degrees in Art and Early Childhood Education.  She spent her 27-year public school teaching career in the Nash/Rocky Mount Schools teaching Kindergarten and Art.

Pat used her God given creative skills to pursue her interests in singing, painting, pottery, theatre, and many other artistic endeavors.  She sang, spoke, and did the potter’s wheel, sculptural, and painting demos at conventions, churches, and small group settings throughout the state, always giving God the glory. Pat sang in her church praise and worship group.  She was a member of the Wilson Chorale and Sounds of Gold and traveled in the US and abroad to perform.  She enjoyed spending time at Dan Finch Pottery.

Pats greatest love and proudest accomplishment was her family.  She was married to Kent for 42 years and they were each other’s biggest supporters in their faith and love.  She raised three sons with a focus on the importance of family and unconditional love.  Pat and Kent were very involved in their six grandchildren’s lives including weekly outings, countless athletic, dance and school activities, and annual beach trips.  They guided their family on the path to a saving faith in their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Pat also worked to preserve her extended family history with a keen interest in genealogy.  She enjoyed the Robbins family reunions and annual cousin’s trips.

The family knows how blessed they were to have Pat in their lives and will miss her bright smile and caring heart.  They believe God has welcomed Pat home “well done thy good and faithful servant…, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”.

Pat is survived by her husband, Kent Montgomery; sons, Keith Barnes (Susan), Scott Barnes (Renee), and Patrick Barnes (Tammy) all of Wilson; grandchildren, Paxton Barnes (Morgan), Kenan Barnes, Patrick Barnes Jr., Anna Barnes, Gabe Barnes and Reagan Barnes; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Fletcher, and Whitley Barnes; mother-in-law, Hazelene Montgomery of Albemarle; brother-in-law, Monty Montgomery (Joan) of Martinsville, VA; sister-in-law, Ann Byrd of Albemarle and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Letha Alsup of Nashville and brother-in-law Don Montgomery.

The family would like to thank Community Home Care and Hospice and will always be grateful for the capable and loving team of caregivers Ann Durham, Wanda Edwards, and Tammy Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fellowship Church, PO Box 280, Nashville, NC 27856-0280.
