Peggy Murphy Collingwood, 90, of Wilson, died Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Sunday, 3:00–4:30 PM. The funeral will be Monday, September 21, 11:00 AM, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Stantonsburg Cemetery, Stantonsburg.
Mrs. Collingwood retired from Rock Ridge Elementary School, having been a well-loved and respected teacher for nearly thirty years at the school.
When not teaching, Peggy was often very involved in activities with her family and friends. Whether it was playing cards with neighbors or visiting with friends at the campground, she always enjoyed being with those who loved her.
Peggy was very active at her church. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of various groups and enjoyed activities with the LWML and the Altar Guild.
On a daily basis Peggy enjoyed working in her flowers and taking care of the family pets, including fish, hamsters, and especially spoiling the family dog.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clark Collingwood; daughter, Kim Boykin (David) of Sims; son, Tim Collingwood of Wilson; sister, Billie Spitler (Ron) of Clarksville, VA; brother, Carl Murphy (Ginger) of Stantonsburg; brother-in-law Harold Rouse of Clarksville, VA; sister-in-law, Martha Lou Murphy of Stantonsburg; grandchildren, Zach Morrison, Christopher Collingwood (Kayleigh), and Jackson Boykin.
Mrs. Collingwood was preceded in death by her parents, William Earl “Dock” Murphy and Esther Sauls Murphy, a sister, Miggie Rouse, and a brother, Dred Murphy.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to everyone at 3HC Home, Health and Hospice Care, especially Lisa and Will.
