LUCAMA - Roy Mercer, 82, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
Funeral, Friday, 2 PM, Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Wilson. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
He was a son of the late Charlie and Esther Britt Mercer and was also preceded in death by a son, Little Roy, and a grandson, Alex Abele.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Jean Powell Mercer; daughters, Wanda Abele (Wolfgang) of Houston, TX, and Anne Cockrell (Jack) of Danville, VA; sons, George Mercer of the home, Darrin Mercer of Wendell and Ronnie Mercer of Apex; grandchildren, Jennifer Mercer and Aaron Cockrell; sisters, Myrtle Lamm, Ethel Murray and Dot Suggs all of Wilson, Francelyn Sharber of Kinston and Susie Lofton of Winston-Salem; brothers, John Mercer of Lucama and Joe Mercer of Kenly.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial, Thursday, 7 - 8:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, 1305 Navaho Dr, Ste, 101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
