Henry Rudolph Bridgers, 85, of Elm City, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held at Friday, March 27, 2026, 6:00 PM, followed by visitation at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive N., Wilson, NC 27896, and other times at his home, 3818 Oak Crest Drive, Elm City, NC 27822.
Henry shared a beautiful life with his lifelong best friend and middle school sweetheart, Sadie Bass Bridgers. Together, they built a beautiful life and love story that spanned seventy-one years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sadie Bass Bridgers; son, Henry Bridgers (Michelle); grand children, Henreitta Cape (Matt), Patrick Tamez; great grand children, Trevor Cape, Caleb Cape, Jax Paul, Brayden Paul, Alex Paul, Kaydence Tamez and Natalie Tamez; sister, Coretta Mercer (“Sweetpea”), his brother, Freddie Bridgers (Janet), his brother-in-law, Junior Bass (Edna) and several special nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Best and Avis Layton Bridgers; his twin brother, Thomas Randolph Bridgers ‘Randy’, sister, Sue Bridgers, his sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Bass, brother-in-law, Jimmy Bass; niece, Shari Diane Bridgers; Karen Bass, and nephew, Charlie Buck Jones.
He was employed by Edwards, Inc., Spring Hope, North Carolina, until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water with his brothers, son, grandsons, nephews, and niece. He took great joy in teaching them his tips and tricks, always done the Bridgers way.
Above all, he loved his family dearly and was a true family man. He truly loved family gatherings. He will be remembered for his devotion to those he loved, his steady presence, and the many special memories he created with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org/give, in memory of his niece, Shari Diane Bridgers.
