Russell Morris

Russell Vincent “Hambone” Morris, Sr., 93, formerly of Wilson, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Wilmington.

Funeral, Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 3:00 PM, at Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.

Hambone was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Minshew Morris; sisters, Donna Deans, Daisy Winborne and Modie Morris; brother, Hassell Morris; grandson, Grant Williams and son-in-law, Keith Williams.   He was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army and was a recipient of a bronze service star.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Williams of Wilmington; son, Russell V. Morris, Jr. (Dawn) of Newport News, VA; sisters, Minnie Earle Barnes and Mildred Hardesty of Wilson and Virginia Muskopf of Belleville, IL; brother, Walter “Shorty” Morris (Mildred “Pete”) of Largo, FL; and grandchildren, Jennifer Auth, Stuart Sorrell, Erica Morris, Kaitlyn Fornes and Russell V. Morris III; great-grandaughters, Madalynn Sorrell and Nellie Auth.
