Sidney Pate

Stantonsburg - Sidney Earl Pate, 77, of the Saratoga-Good News Church Community, died Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Funeral, Wednesday, 2:00 PM, Good News Advent Christian Church, followed by a time in visiting and sharing in the Fellowship Hall.

Surviving is his wife, Jean Woodard Pate; daughter, Dell Pate of the home;
son, Ron Pate (Leslie) of Middlesex; granddaughter Makayla Pate; grandson, Ronnie Pate; nephew, Tim Pate.

He was born on February 6, 1945 to Sidney and Theresa Davenport Pate, who preceded him in death in addition to his brother, Johnny Pate, in 2013.

Sidney worked for Hackney Body Works for 23 years after having served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Pokey Joe.  Sidney and Jean spent many Saturdays selling knick-knacks at Wainwright’s Flea Market or selling their garden produce at the Wilson Farmers Market.  Many will remember his helping in the community when asked and often attending local concerts with Dell. When time permitted, he loved fishing, making wooden furniture and using his metal detector in searching for arrowheads.  Watching western TV shows were a favorite for Pokey Joe and him.  Not to be missed is that he loved his church family and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ.
