Steve Broadwell

Steve Harlie Broadwell, 71, of Wilson, died Sunday, February 11, 2024.

The visitation will be at Wilson Memorial Service Thursday, 2:00-2:45, followed by the funeral at 3:00 PM.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Joyce Stephenson Broadwell and his brother, Slim Broadwell.

He was raised in Wilson, NC, where he worked for Hardee's as a teenager and young adult as a manager and supervisor of multiple restaurants in the area for 25 years.  He then took his knowledge and experience in the restaurant business to SouthCo Distributing Company in Goldsboro, where he spent over 20 years with the company servicing convenience stores as their Food Services Director.  His last ten years of work history led him to Jernigan Oil/Duck Thru Convenience Stores where he continued to use his experience in the food service industry to help manage food distribution throughout eastern North Carolina and Virginia.

Steve was a friend to everyone he met.  He loved working, cutting up with his friends, spending time with family, and getting his hands dirty at any opportunity.  In his free time he would often be cutting grass, riding his tractor, or doing any construction project that his son could come up with.  He cherished his time with his granddaughters Hailey and Callie and enjoyed spoiling them as much as possible.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends and was the guy you would call when you had a problem that needed fixing.  Steve was described by the owner of his company as "Selfless, he always put the needs of others in front of his own.  He was a co-worker, a leader, a mentor, a boss, a smiling face, a shoulder to lean on, and a listening ear, but most importantly Steve was a friend and family".

He is survived by his wife Lynn Corbett Broadwell; son, Mike Broadwell (Amanda) of Washington; daughter, Karen Morrow (Israel) of Willow Springs; granddaughters, Hailey and Callie Broadwell and Graycen and Charleigh Morrow; sister, Yvonne Parks (Mike) of Rocky Mount
