Madora Vick “Vicki” Drummond, 84, of Fremont, passed peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2026.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor a life well-lived will be held Saturday, August 29 at 2 p.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church. At the conclusion of the service, friends are invited to visit with the family in the Fellowship Hall, followed by the interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
Vicki was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and church leader. Her selfless nature impacted countless individuals including her children, students, and others in the community. She faithfully served Fremont United Methodist Church in a variety of roles including Lay Leader and Sunday school teacher. She also regularly attended services at Fremont Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated educator serving 25 years as a public-school teacher with 23 of those years being spent at Charles B. Aycock High School. She volunteered at the Fremont Historical Museum and Preservation Society where she served on the Board of Directors. Through her work at the museum she started and organized a Memorial Day service that is still held annually. She volunteered often for the soup kitchen in Goldsboro and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. In recognition of her many years of service, she was bestowed the Anne Exum Hinnant award. She enjoyed riding her bike and was an avid walker, having logged thousands of miles around the town of Fremont. She had an incredibly special bond with her grandson, Jake. He was born in 2001, a month after she suffered a life-altering stroke. Jake was the light of her life. Vicki was an extraordinary person who spent her life making everyone else’s life better. She leaves behind a path of goodness and love with her handprint on the hearts of everyone she knew. She was one of God’s most faithful and loyal servants. Heaven has gained a very special angel.
Vicki was preceded in death by her husband, William “Mickey” Drummond, Jr.
She is survived by daughter, Meredith Self (Scott) of Burlington; sons, William “Mike” Drummond III (Becky) of Clemmons, Matthew Drummond (Stacy) of Fremont, and Bryan Drummond (Melanie) of Franksville, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; and brother, Henry Walker of Farmville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fremont United Methodist Church, PO Box 147 Fremont, NC 27830 or Fremont Missionary Baptist Church PO Box 906, Fremont, NC 27830.
