William Gay

January 30, 1934 — November 21, 2020

William “Bill” Oran Gay, SMSgt USAF, retired, 86, of Wilson, died Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Wilson Medical Center.

Funeral, Wednesday, November 25, 2:00 PM, Wilson Memorial Service. Interment with Military Rites will be in Maplewood Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing will be Tuesday, November 24, 6:00-7:30 PM, at Wilson Memorial Service.

Bill retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant (E8) after 21 years of service and from Bridgestone/Firestone as a quality control engineer after 23 years of work. Bill enjoyed working in his yard, bird watching, fishing, and devoting time to his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Phyllis Gay; son, Phillip Gay (Becky) and granddaughter, Sarah Gay, of Wendell; daughter, Stacy Gay of Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Gay of Elm City, and his brother, Robert L. Gay of D'Iberville, MS.
