ELM CITY - Yates Summerlin, 81, died Saturday, March 10, 2012.
Funeral, Wednesday, 11 AM, Oak Grove FWB Church. Interment, Cedar Grove Cemetery, Elm City.
Yates farmed and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie J. and Rosa Bridgers Summerlin; sisters, Doris Newcomb, Mamie Reason and Margie Lamm; brothers, James, Frank, Jack and Thomas Summerlin.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Alma Davis Summerlin; daughters, Debbie Baker (Ray), Wanda Parrish (Woody) and Terry Bunting (Lee) all of Elm City; son, Robbie Summerlin (Arlinda) of Elm City; grandchildren, Kevin Baker (Bridgette), Ashley Bass (Roger), Matthew Parrish, Holly Summerlin, Steven Baker, Jake Summerlin and Casey Bunting and Kristy Kidd (Bucky); great-grandchildren, Morgan and Chelsea Kidd, Noah Bass and Bella Baker; sisters, Annie Mae Crumpler and Beatrice Webb of Elm City, Daisy Pittman of Rocky Mount; brothers, Willie Summerlin of Wilson, Clifton and Melvin Summerlin of Elm City.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, Tuesday, 6 - 8 PM.
