Obituary

WILSON - Charles John "Chuck" Bondley III was born June 16, 1952 in Spokane, Washington. He transitioned to Heaven across The Rainbow Bridge where his beloved Westie, Duffie was waiting for him on May 21, 2021 at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, NC.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Chuck’s life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, where he was a member, followed by The Masonic Rites and visitation in Ascension’s Memorial Hall. (Masking is preferred.)

After graduation from Florida Air Academy, Chuck served his country by enlisting in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  Upon his discharge from the Air Force he returned home to Orlando, Florida and completed his education at Central Florida University. Chuck had an outgoing, fun-loving personality and loved being with people, which led him to a successful career in retail management with Eckerd Drugs and Lowes Home Improvement, retiring from Lowes in April 2017. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge #117 and served as Master of the Lodge in 2016.  He also was a member of the Wilson Woodcarvers and enjoyed the weekly meetings as well as traveling to different carving shows across the state where he won several ribbons for some of his carvings.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Major General Charles John Bondley, Jr. and Mrs. Gloria Tanks Bondley; his in-laws, Ralph and Eloise Young; his brothers-in-law, Roger Evitt, Rodney Pittman; and his nephew, David Evitt.

He is survived by his wife Ann; his sisters, Diane Kosierowski and Celinda Evitt of Florida; his brothers-in-law, Buck Young (Teresa) and Charlie Young (Lynn), and his sisters-in-law, Pat Pittman, Bonnie Weaver (Larry) all of Johnston County; nephews, Kenny Evitt, Rod Pittman, Art Pittman (Elizabeth), Jason Young (Carmen), Charlie Young II; nieces, Lane Massengill (Jamey), Katie Moore (Brooks) and Amber Weaver; as well as eight great-nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Chuck’s memory may be made to The Masonic Home for Children, attn: Donations, 600 College St, Oxford, NC 27565 or to the Westie Rescue Program, PO Box 342, Dunn Loring, VA 22027.
