Janice Sharp

January 26, 1931 — May 9, 2020

Janice Neal Sharp, 89, of Wilson, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, May 9th, 2020.

She will be remembered as a strong Christian woman who always loved others first and had a servant’s heart – doing for others brought much joy and happiness into her heart.

A funeral will be held for and at the convenience of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Myde and Archie Neal and brother Bill Neal; her beloved husband, Willis Dalton Sharp and daughter-in-law, Amy Udstuen Sharp.

She leaves behind a daughter, Diane Sharp Boston of Wilson and son-in-law, John Boston, whom she loved with all her heart; as well as a son, Will Sharp of Morganton.  She adored them and their families including seven grandchildren; Kristy (Ben Hill) of Blacksburg, VA, Jan (Tyson Wooten) of Wilson, Josh Sharp of Brooklyn, NY, Jacob Sharp of Brooklyn, NY, and Taylor Sharp of Durham, NC,  Douglas (Heather Boston) of Wilson, and Aimee (Dennis Killette) of New Bern as well as her precious great grandchildren that brought her unimaginable joy –Carter and Cooper Hill, Lily and Liza Wooten.  Her brother Wayne Neal and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

She will be remembered for her quiet, giving spirit that was filled with humor and effortless farm- to -table cooking that connected her family and friends and allowed her to love on others with abundance.  She never missed an opportunity to make others feel special and loved.  She made it known how proud she was of her family and friends and gave her all to be sure they knew how she felt.  Even in the latter years, when dementia attempted to claim her thoughts, she was able, by the grace of God, to light up when she saw her family members and would always remind them that “you’re mine.” And we are forever thankful and blessed that she was ours. God is good.

“Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gates.” Proverbs 31:31
