Obituary

Junius Anthony Evans, 98, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, at his home while surrounded by family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

He was a lifelong resident of Fremont except for three and a half years in the South Pacific while serving in the US Army.  He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College which is also where he met his first love, Bobbie who soon became his wife. He was a life-long member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and a member of Home Masonic Lodge #613 AF & AM for seventy-five years. His community service includes Wayne County Board of Education, Wayne Memorial Hospital Board, and National Farmers Organization, as well as various other agricultural organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Sugg Evans; daughters, Lynne Barker-Clarke (Bob Niedbalski) of Hillsborough, Judith Evans (Andy Shackelford) and Jean Milleson (William Jones) both of Fremont; son, Steven Evans (Tammy) of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Nancy Evans of Fremont; step-daughter, Paula Wallace (Jimmy) of Arapahoe; step-son, Alan Thompson (Lynn) of Wilson. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, Zac Barker (Tara Zhang) of Hillsborough, Rachel Evans of Fremont, Gail Price (Josh) of Fremont, Courtney Evans of Raleigh, Christie Jewett (Scott) of Raleigh, Laura Raper (Alex) of Fremont, Casey Milleson of Franklin, TN, Charles Clarke of Portland, OR, Allison Crocker (Nick) of Fremont, and Stevie Evans (Celeste) of Fremont, and two step-grandchildren, Brian and Sarah Thompson of Wilson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: David Ethan and Bobbie Price, McKenzi Milleson, Allie, Emilee, and Lilly Raper, and Sammie Gail Crocker.

Treasured caregivers include Olivia Flowers, Jennifer Montague, Donna Bauer, Caroline Foy, and Brittany Fothergill - thank you for your tender care. The family would also like to thank Assisted Care and AseraCare for their excellent service and compassion.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Barbara "Bobbie" White Evans; son, Floyd Anthony "Andy" Evans; parents, Hugh and Elizabeth Powell Evans; grandson, Bryan K. Barker; siblings, Frances Whitworth, Bee Dolf, Ruth Thornton, and Cecil Evans.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fremont United Methodist Church, PO Box 147, Fremont, NC 27830 or to Mason/c Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St, Oxford NC 27565.

Throughout his life, Junius has been loved as a son, grandson, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He said many times that he had lived a good, long life but that he was ready to "go home. n He will be deeply missed by many.
