Annette Tew

September 26, 1938 — October 10, 2021

Annette Smith Tew, 83, of Rocky Mount, formerly of Wilson, died Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church followed by visitation. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mrs. Tew, recognized as an outstanding young educator, taught in Wilson and Nash counties for 30+ years and will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt, teacher, mentor, deacon, and grandmother. As one of twelve children, family was at the core of her being. She lived for creating memories, and was a fierce advocate for those she loved. She touched many lives. Her mischievous smile, limitless energy, and playful spirit were with her until the end.

Mrs. Tew is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Finberg and husband, Scott, of Wilson; sons, Kevin Tew and wife, Hilda, and Keith Tew and wife, Shannon, all of Wilson; seven grandchildren, Andrew Finberg, Jackson Finberg and Emilee Finberg, Justin Tew, Anna Whitt, Camille Tew and Nicholas Tew; sister, Betty Holland of Roseboro; brother, Charles Smith of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Jack Tew; and  parents, Vander and Brilla Smith of Roseboro, and nine siblings. The family would like to thank the congregation of First Baptist Church, Community Home Care & Hospice and her many caregivers in recent months, especially Reneé Fitchett, her night time buddy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894 or to the charity of one’s choice.
