Donna Marek

WILSON - Donna Faye Jones Marek, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in peace with her children by her side. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all.

The funeral will be for and at the convenience of the family.

Donna lived a life of good moral values and tried to guide all in that belief. Due to health, she spent many hours enjoying country rides with her daughter, eating meals at her son’s and daughter’s in-laws’ home, and good fellowship with her daughter’s in-laws, Mary Gray and Tommy Crumpler, that were special to her.

She was born in Edgecombe County and lived several years in the Rock Ridge community where she worked at Rock Ridge School, until she met and married the love of her life, a “Marine”, Gaylord Joseph Marek. They traveled many years in his career, living in the states and abroad. She will forever remain in our hearts and memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband, “Major” Gaylord Joseph Marek; parents, George Elmer and Ida Geneva Webb Jones; brother, Charles Buck Jones; and sister, Julia Jones Parris.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Crumpler (Wayne) of Wilson; son, Danny B. Marek (Diane) of Four Oaks; grandson, Joseph Allen Marek of CA; granddaughters, Dana Lee Scozzafava (Jason) of CT, Miranda Scott Blair of NC; great-grandchildren, Alexis Tracey and Elise Blair, Gwen and Fiona Scozzafava and Addison Marek, sister-in-law, Corretta Jones Mercer; nephews, James Parris, Ronnie Jones and Charlie Jones; nieces, Darla Smallwood and Caroll Ferrell.
